Women who develop both high blood pressure and diabetes during pregnancy are at a far higher risk of future health complications than those who develop only one of these conditions, according to new research. The study found that while women who had either diabetes or high blood pressure during pregnancy had a future risk of developing diabetes 15 times higher than women with neither condition, the risk was 37 times higher among pregnant women who had both gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.
