Six U.S. research institutions are launching a multicenter network, the Diabetic Foot Consortium (DFC), funded by the National Institutes of Health, to study diabetic foot ulcers. Foot ulcers are a common diabetes complication and the leading cause of lower limb amputations in the U.S., and this is the first research network dedicated to studying how to improve diabetic wound healing and prevent amputations.
