Taking a 7.5 mg dose of oral insulin every day doesn’t seem to be effective in delaying the onset of type 1 diabetes. A recent study followed a group of people who all tested positive for microinsulin antibodies and had a relative who’d been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Half the study participants took the oral insulin, and half took a placebo. The researchers found there was no significant difference in how long it took the members of both groups to develop type 1 diabetes. Read more
